Twenty two years after
Johnny Lever's character, Babulal, in the SRK starrer,
Baazigar, left the audience in splits, his daughter, Jamie, is playing a
similar
character in Abbas-Mustan's comic caper Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. “Babulal
was inherently funny while this kadak, muphat bai is dragged into funny
situations,“ says Jamie, who saw Baazigar when she was 10 and laughed
her heart out. “My father is a serious person at home. Even
today, when I do stage shows with him, he's like a boss. I think he
sometimes forgets he's my father.“
The filmmakers saw a stand-up video of Jamie, which was doing the rounds on social media, and offered her this role. “It was a surprise to both my father and me. Abbas-Mustan have known me since I was a child and Kapil Sharma is the biggest name on TV today. I couldn't have asked for a better launch,“ asserts Jamie, who had dabbled in marketing for two years earlier. She received a standing ovation at a live show abroad, which convinced Johnny that she could follow in his footsteps.
