Delhi boy Sidharth Malhotra wants his family to move to Mumbai to be with him

It can’t be easy to come back to an empty house, day
after day. But it’s a reality thousands of people, who move to Mumbai
from all parts of the country, face every day. Thousands arrive daily
with a dream and little else. Most come with acting aspirations.
As did Sidharth Malhotra, who got a dream launch and overnight stardom with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year. Four films later, it’s clear he is here to stay. Meanwhile his family continues to live in Delhi. Now his dream is to move his family to this city and give them a lifestyle that they are accustomed to. Here he talks about family matters. Read on...
Does Mumbai feel like home now, or is it just a place where you work?
Mumbai feels like home. It feels like a very comfortable home now, actually, though I miss Delhi. I am 30 now. I wish my family was here. I miss interacting with them and being with them on a daily basis.
What’s keeping your parents in the Capital? They must be retired now...
Hopefully, they will move here at some point. But I need to be better equipped before I get them here. I want to give them the best. So that’s when I mean when I talk about being ambitious. I want to get much more settled financially and property-wise, so that I can take good care of them. But they are not alone, my brother, his wife and their kid live with them, my whole family is there. We have a wonderful house there.
Everybody does in Delhi. Here, we all live in match boxes.
Exactly. I am aiming for something big. Recently, I was telling someone, ‘I want to look for land, where can I get this land,' and they laughed at me. But then so did people in Delhi when I said that I wanted to be an actor. I think anything is possible.
