Some Members of Parliament who saw the biopic Gour Hari Dastaan: The Freedom File at the Films Division Cineplex in New Delhi were impressed with it. The politicians, who called it “the most significant and emotionally uplifting film of our time“ were overwhelmed by the presence of the 83-year-old Gour Hari Das, whom it is based on. The netas also felicitated Das on his epic battles - first as a foot soldier against the British, followed by an ironic 32-year war against the government of the country for whose Independence he fought. Also present was former Mumbai Police Commissioner turned MP, Satyapal Singh, who declared that 'its stunning relevance would be discussed at length in Parliament'. A senior consulting editor with the national broadcasting channel also lavished praise on the film.

Acclaimed at 16 international film festivals, including London, Paris, New York, San Francisco and Canada besides India, Gour Hari Dastaan has also created a buzz on social networking sites. Director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan stated that Vinay Pathak as Gour Hari will be among the most memorable porltrayals seen in Indian cinema.
