Vivek Oberoi's younger
brother Akshay Oberoi who was last seen as Deepika
Padukone's runaway date in Shoojit Sircar's Piku, now plays Abhishek
Sharma, a simpleton on the streets of Mumbai in Pia Sukanya's
directorial debut titled Bombairiya.
“He's a good chap, addicted to comic books and inspired by superheroes. He believes that his hat will help him fight crime and never takes it off,“ Akshay told Mirror, adding that his character goes from believing that his crimefighting skills lie in his hat to eventually no longer needing the hat.
Also featuring Radhika Apte as a publicist and Siddhanth Kapoor as a biker, the film spans 24 hours in reel time and subtly explores how people survive in the city. “We shot for 30 days in Mumbai and it was an adventure,“ Akshay smiles. This year, Akshay will also be seen as Mufti romancing a younger Begum, played by Aditi Rao Hyadari, in Fitoor, Abhishek Kapoor's adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, Great Expectations.
