Jacqueline Fernandez

With as many as five films in hand, and two more in the pipeline, Jacqueline Fernandez is on a roll. But the girl has both feet firmly grounded.

She says, matter-of-factly, “The audiences have got a taste of certain performances, that too from top actresses like Deepika Padukone who are making it increasingly difficult for us. We need to keep up with that. So I hope I get to do my fair share of great roles so that people’s perception about me also change someday.”

Her upcoming releases span genres — another comedy with Housefull 3, superhero’s love interest in The Flying Jatt or the ladylove in Dishoom. What next after that? “I think a chick flick is what I’m looking at the moment,” she shoots back. Jackie feels that chick flicks are the future. “I feel the trend is coming up and the change is definitely happening. Women-centric films are already being made today, but I guess in future, we will have more of chick flicks, where it will be just about girls. We all enjoy watching something like that,” she adds.

Won’t she be insecure about starring in a two-heroine film? “Not at all. Actually I’m dying to work with Sonam Kapoor, more so because we are friends. I think it’s fun to work with more actresses because there’s no much you can discuss,” she winks.

Her next two films — not chick flicks — will have a lot of female energy around. “Definition Of Fear is a movie centred around four girls. We don’t get to see much of that in Hindi films. It was just female energy on the set and it was so different from what it is generally over here,” she continues. “The same is with Housefull 3. I am very excited to work with Lisa Haydon and Nargis Fakhri on the film and I am sure we will all have a great time together.”

But is she in talks with anyone for a chick flick? “Of course,” she laughs. “Hopefully, I know that a couple of projects are looked at where it will essentially be just about girls, more like a chick flick,” she signs off.
