WILL SUBHASH KAPOOR CHARM AUDIENCES ONCE AGAIN?
Director Subhash Kapoor had proved his worth with Phas Gaye Re Obama. But it’s with Jolly LLB that he really made a mark as it was a film seen by more number of people. The film was loved for its direction and writing, both of which was by Mr Kapoor. Now he is back with Guddu Rangeela and although the promos haven’t made the desired impact, nobody is underestimating the film. After all, Subhash Kapoor knows how to entertain audiences and at the same time, cater to a serious topic and it works very well with the audiences, as evident with the success of Phas Gaye Re Obama and Jolly LLB.
Guddu Rangeela stars Arshad Warsi and Amit Sadh in leading roles along with Aditi Rao Hydari and Ronit Roy. The film is more or less funny but also deals with the honour killings that are prevalent in Haryana. The trailer is not as great as Jolly LLB but it’s decent and the message comes across well. Also, it’s clear this is not a mindless film and that the director is trying to say something and at the same time entertain. Songs on the whole haven’t really made an impact but Mata Ka Email has been loved a lot. The lyrics are quite quirky and funny – the film might not work but the song will be remembered for sure!
Guddu Rangeela is more or less a solo release, with Terminator Genisys being the only competition, but that’s a Hollywood film. However, the hype isn’t considerable. Hence, opening is expected to be poor but the film can pick up for sure if word of mouth is positive. And then it has no competition till Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s release 2 weeks later. Subhash Kapoor is a great filmmaker and here’s hoping that Guddu Rangeela turns out to be as good as or even better than his previous films!
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE GUDDU RANGEELA AND WHY? DO LET ME KNOW!
