In A Flying Jatt, she plays a typical Punjabi mother and credits Ekta Kapoor as the reason she bagged the role. “I was told that the character had been penned keeping me in mind. Ekta thought I fit into a Punjabi mom's shoes perfectly. She and I share a great friendship and it was her idea to get me on board. I always agree with her because look at the amazing work she has given me in the past,“ says Amrita. The actress made her television debut in Ekta's popular soap, Kkavyanjali in 2005, in which she played a character with negative shades. Nitya Nanda wooed both the critics and the couch potatoes.
Amrita had earlier played Arjun Kapoor's mother in two films, Aurangzeb (2013) and 2 States (2014). In 2 States, she is the stereotypical Punjabi mom who is bossy, loud, parochial and dotes on her son who, to her misfortune, wants to make a match with a South Indian girl.
She is now excited to work with Tiger. “I have known the brat since he was born. He used to follow Jaggu on the sets,“ Amrita reminisces with a laugh.
