The one-and-a-half
year-long wait for her comeback show to hit the tube
hasn't quite ended the way actress Yuvika Chaudhary had expected. Last
seen a decade ago in the TV show Astitva, she took up the series Daffa
420 as the protagonist. A recent turn of events, however, has actress
Madhurima Tuli taking over from her after eight episodes in the
26-episode series.
Says Yuvika, “I took up the show because I was getting to play a cop, which I have not done before. I shot eight episodes in a span of a year-and-a-half during which the production house came to me thrice, requesting me to slash my budget by a considerable amount, citing financial loss. I accommodated their request twice, but refused the third time. It seemed as if they were not clear about what price they wanted me to work on. I gave my 100% to the show, and there is only so much I could do in terms of revising my fee. I have lost out on several lucrative offers because of mismanagement of dates from their end. Despite that, I stood by my producer for one and-a-half years even though I had committed only six months to them. I did not take up any other work since I was committed to it and wanted to return to TV with a bang.“ It was when she refused to cut her fee that the makers roped in Madhurima to take the story forward. “I am aware that another actress has been roped in. I would still shoot with them if they require me. I am now open to lucrative and strong roles on TV,“ says Yuvika.
While she plays a cop from Delhi, Madhurima will play a cop from Mumbai. The latter, who was last seen as Shabbir Ahluwalia's girlfriend in Kumkum Bhagya and also featured in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Baby, confirms, “I wanted to be part of a series and this came to me at the right time. It's creatively satisfying and takes only three to four months, allowing the actor to showcase his/her talent.“
