Though she refutes signing on the dotted line, the Lunchbox actress is no longer a part of Ekta Kapoor’s Azharuddin biopic starring Emraan Hashmi

Even before the film takes off, the Mohammad Azharuddin boipic has been plagued with issues. First the makers couldn’t find an actress who could play Azhar’s ex-wife Sangeeta Bijlani and now their troubles have doubled as Nimrat Kaur, who was signed to play the lawyer’s role has opted out of the project. The actress, we hear wasn’t too happy with the script, especially her role and decided to convey that to the makers. The film has apparently been thrown off-gear as they don’t have a replacement as yet.

Though Nimrat maintains that she hadn’t signed on the dotted line, our sources reveal that she was indeed a part of the project. She says, “Yes I was approached to do Azhar but I had never signed the film. It was one of those films I was considering. How can I walkout of a film I haven’t even signed? Beyond that, I won’t be able to tell anything else.” Tanveer Bookwala, CCO, Balaji Motion Pictures has a similar story to say, “The film starts shooting in July as planned, opening with the London schedule. Nimrat was one of the names being considered for a pivotal role in the movie but we’re going ahead with someone else.” He also adds that though she isn’t a part of this project, they plan to work with her in the future. “We are considering Nimrat for another movie, but that’s not until next year.”
