Varun Dhawan on how Punjabi parents never want their kids to move out
Sneha Mahadevan (DNA; June 12, 2015)
Over the past week or so, several young actors moved
out of their parents’ home to their independent space. Priyanka Chopra
recently revealed she was moving to a new place in Juhu, Alia Bhatt
moved out of her parents’ house, Shraddha Kapoor is in the process of
finding a new place and Parineeti Chopra has just found her dream home.
Varun Dhawan admits he does feel the need for his own space sometimes, “I do feel the need for my own space because I am doing so much work now. There are so many meetings going on and there are too many people flitting in and out of home. I take up too much space in the house so I feel bad for other people. So now, my mom has made a little section for me in the house. She won’t let me go so easily. And anyway, I wouldn’t move out too far. Maybe, just the next lane or the road across,” he says.
While he is attached to his parents, Varun has always been on the move since his debut. “To be honest, I am hardly home. I am either shooting a movie or promoting one. This has been my life since Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania released. Also, when I am home, my parents treat me like I am 10. I pretty much behave like I am 16. Punjabi parents hate it when their kids move out. I don’t want to either. I am very happy living with them. But I will eventually have to find a new place of my own. I am quite independent that way.”
