Hamari Adhuri Kahani’s story continues on the stage....
Subhash K Jha (DNA; June 24, 2015)
The Mohit Suri film Hamari Adhuri Kahani (HAK) might have bombed at the box office, but it most definitely has caught the fancy of stage enthusiasts.
Based on Mahesh Bhatt’s All That Could Have Been (co-written by Suhrita Sengupta), HAK is headed for the floorboards, first in Delhi (August 1) and later, in Lahore. Bhatt’s protégé Imran Zahid will play Emraan Hashmi’s role.
Says Zahid, “Bhatt saheb feels I will do justice to the lead character because I have earlier played characters pulled from autobiographical real-life situations, such as in the stage adaptations of Arth and Daddy or The Last Salute.”
National School of Drama graduate and an award-winning actor and director Happy Ranajit will direct the play while Pakistani Sufi band Raeth, with hits like Bhula Do and Waada, to their name, will compose the music for the play.
