TV actor Narendra Jha, who is currently seen in the show Begusarai; and who was also noticed as Shahid Kapoor's screen dad in Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider, tied the knot with the former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) CEO Pankaja Thakur in a quiet ceremony on May 11 near Nashik. In fact, the news remained a secret until a couple of days ago. Says the actor, who's also featured in several films, “We are private people, so we wanted it to be a low-key affair. Apart from our families, only a few close friends were a part of it. We didn't make a hue and cry about it, primarily because we aren't in our 20s. Secondly, the industry assumes things when two people get together.“

Narendra and Pankaja have known each other for a long time. “I know her since the time we were in Delhi. I met her again in 2007. I proposed marriage to her in 2009 and it took her a year to accept my proposal. She made up her mind about getting remarried at the end of 2010, but she asked for time. She was co-parenting her daughter along with her ex-husband. She didn't want to disturb her daughter's life back then since she was quite young,“ he says.
