DIL DHADAKNE DO – IS ZOYA AKHTAR BACK WITH ANOTHER MULTI-STARRER HIT?
A director who has unanimously been hailed as one of the best in recent times has to be Zoya Akhtar. Her first film, Luck By Chance, was brilliant but sadly, not many went to see it. But her 2nd film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, was loved a lot and was also a success at the box office. And it’s no wonder that the expectations are already high from her next film that releases tomorrow – Dil Dhadakne Do. What’s more, it’s a multi starrer after a long time, starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah. It deals with a dysfunctional family’s experience on a Cruise and how it brings a change in their lives. Priyanka and Ranveer play siblings while Farhan and Anushka are their love interests respectively. Anil has dyed his hair for the first time and yet looks very dashing. The cruise scenes are brilliantly shot and the film looks quite appealing.
Sadly, the film faces lot of challenges. The theatrical trailer was more or less fun but a section of viewers weren’t really impressed with the promo. Songs haven’t worked big time and this is not good news for any Hindi film since in Bollywood, it’s the songs that play a big role in attracting people to theatres. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that the buzz for the film went a bit down after the promo was out and usually the opposite happens with most of the films! The opening will still be good but not great or extraordinary. But the makers need not worry, especially if they feel they have a good product in their hand. In recent times, we have seen how films like Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns didn’t really have a strong opening on Day 1. But thanks to terrific word of mouth, both these films took a huge jump from Day 2 onwards. So something similar can surely be expected from Dil Dhadakne Do, especially if audience reaction is positive.
