WILL JACKKY FINALLY GET LUCKY WITH WELCOME TO KARACHI?

Jackky Bhagnani has done 5 films till now. 4 of them have been flops while only one – FALTU – was an average grosser. But Welcome To Karachi might not suffer the same fate as Jackky is not the solo hero. He features with Arshad Warsi, who is known for his comic timing and who looks great in this comic caper. Even Jackky is funny and in fact, the film looks quite promising. The theatrical trailer was instantly lapped up. In a unique initiative, the film was promoted in the beautiful state of Kashmir, despite the fact that films don’t release there, unfortunately. However, this novel promotional drive managed to garner attention.

However, the film faces quite a few challenges. After the superb trailer, the songs didn’t make the desired impact. Also, Arshad hasn’t promoted the film except for appearing on Comedy Nights With Kapil. A section of media is speculating that Arshad isn’t happy with the film and hence he’s not promoting it. In the absence of Arshad, it was upto Jackky and Lauren to promote the film. They have given their best but both aren’t that exciting. Also, Jackky has promoted his film with his heroines in the post and the endaevour hasn’t really paid off and same seems to be the case here. The presence of Arshad would have given an interesting touch to the promotions, which is missing as of now. Moreover, last week’s release Tanu Weds Manu Returns is going super-duper strong and might make a significant dent in Welcome To Karachi’s collections. And then there’s Dil Dhadakne Do coming up next week as well. Hence, Welcome To Karachi has just one week to excel at the box office. And that too will happen only if the film is nice. The opening will not be huge but the film can grow if the response is positive. If audience rejects the film, it will have zero chance of succeeding.

TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS IS A BLOCKBUSTER!

Kangana Ranaut surprises yet again! Last year, her landmark film Queen turned out to be the surprise hit of 2014. This year, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has not only got praise from all quarters, but it’s also set to become the first blockbuster of 2015! The film had a rocking weekend and when many thought that it’ll fall in the weekdays, the film held very steadily from Monday onwards. It’s set to cross 100 crore before the end of second week and it might even touch 120 crore, depending on its performance in Week 2 and 3rd weekend! This is a huge feat, considering that the film doesn’t boast of stars. Once again, it is clear that a great-entertaining promo+interesting-comic idea+talented and exciting actors+catchy music can work wonders. Way to go!
