2 MEDIUM BUDGET FILMS TO RELEASE TOMORROW
After the biggie Gabbar Is Back’s release last week, this Friday will see the release of 2 small budget films – Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai. My analysis on these flicks:
PIKU: Films boasting of toilet humour can put off a section of audience. However, that’s not the case of Piku. It centers around Amitabh Bachchan who has constipation problems and his relationship with his daughter, played by Deepika Padukone. The film also stars Irrfan Khan in a leading role. It is directed by Shoojit Sircar, who won hearts with Vicky Donor. The trailer is lovely and even the songs are endearing. The writing is superb, as evident from the promos and it looks like nice slice of life flick. The film might not have a huge opening but can grow if word of mouth is positive. The competition from Gabbar Is Back might prove detrimental, possibly.
KUCH KUCH LOCHA HAI: It stars Sunny Leone and Ram Kapoor along with Evelyn Sharma and newcomer Navdeep Chhabra. From the promos, it looks like a fun film but the hype hasn’t been created. Even songs are foot-tapping but didn’t become chartbusters. The film also features a remixed version of the song ‘Pass Aao Na’ and it’s quite sizzling. But again, it didn’t become huge. And that’s not only what worries the makers. From the time the film went on floors, it was marketed as Sunny’s first family entertainer. But shockingly, the Censors gave it an ‘A’ certificate. Although the makers tried to repeal the decision, it looks like their efforts proved futile. Now Kuch Kuch Locha Hai releases tomorrow without much hype, with an adult certification and also faces stiff competition from Gabbar Is Back. Hence, it’ll find it very difficult to prove to be a profitable venture.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE PIKU OR KUCH KUCH LOCHA HAI AND WHY? DO LET US KNOW!
