After several Bollywood
no-brainers like Chashme Baddoor, Total Siyappa and Kill Dil,
Pakistan's import to Bollywood, Ali Zafar, is all set to make his
international debut as a producer with his Urdu-English bi-lingual,
Deosai.
Talking about the action drama, Ali informed Mirror that it is set in Deosai, the second highest plateau in the world, which explains the title. Located on the Karakorum border off the Western Himalayas in Pakistan, the plateau is commonly known as the 'Land of the Giants' since the huge mountains appear to touch the sky. “The film will bring the rich culture of the region on celluloid,“ he says. “We have hired a large local cast and the Hindi-Urdu dialect we speak in the film will be unique to the mountainous region.“
The actor believes that the audience in both India and Pakistan are ready for serious commercial films. “Even though Deosai is a mainstream film, it has a novel narrative style that spans decades, going back and forth. It will be a visual treat,“ he promises.
Ali will also be acting in the film but he's not playing the only lead. “It's a journey of two female protagonists. One Hollywood actress has been finalized and we are still to cast the other,“ he informs.
After Deosai, the unit will be flying to Europe where parts of the film will be shot. “We have a large international crew for the Europe schedule. I am looking at a release mid-2016 release. We will be shooting in Deosai through summer and in Europe during winter,“ he says and is keen to travel with his newborn daughter, Alyza, and wife Ayesha Fazli, in June for the first schedule. “I love the mountains and have never shot a film in such a picturesque location. And I want my family high up there with me this summer,“ Ali smiles.
