Shruti Haasan insists that her sole focus is her acting career
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 28, 2015)
She is only 29, but Shruti Haasan does not let her chirpy voice hide her worldly edge.
So when Mirror asked her whether she is spending time mentoring her younger sister, Shamitabh debutante Akshara, pat came the reply: "In my opinion, today's kids are very intelligent. Akshara doesn't need me. Anyway, she has my mum (Sarika) to guide and protect her."
The jaded attitude may be the result of a recent court battle. A production house accused Shruti of cheating in a suit filed in the City Civil Court of Hyderabad, but the case was dismissed.
"It was so unnecessary, I hope it doesn't happen to any actress," says Shruti, who has seven films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu releasing this year.
"I am the daughter of two successful actors. I have grown up in the limelight and judgemental people have been a part and parcel of my upbringing. It doesn't bother me thanks to my filmy parivaar."
The actress plays a feisty young lawyer in her upcoming film, Gabbar Is Back, and when asked if she is afraid of her 'hero' Akshay Kumar, dominating the action-packed film, she retorts, "My first and final consideration is always my co-star. I'm here to do my job."
