Despite having no revealing scenes in its trailer, Hunterrr has the perception of being an explicit sex comedy. The story revolves around Mandar Ponkshe, played by Gulshan Devaiah, whose teenage curiosity turns into an obsession for sex, but things start to change when he falls in love.

The makers of the movie organised a special screening for Sidharth Malhotra and a few friends, as they feel it's the kind of film best enjoyed with close buddies. Sid agrees, “The best thing about Hunterrr is that it's nostalgic and fun. It reminded me of my friends, who are 'hunters' in real life. I wish this film was made earlier, so that they could have picked some tricks from it.“

The film's director Harshavardhan Kulkarni, who also wrote Hasee Toh Phasee, says, “It is a s coming-of-age story, set in a milieu that I am aware of but its emotions are universal.“ Anurag Kashyap, who is one of the producers of the film, adds, “Harsh tells a great story, which is personal, relatable and real. Most people will be able to identify with it.“
