After the screening of Margarita, With A Straw across international film festivals, it's now time for India to roll out the red carpet for this heart-warming tale. Aamir Khan, who launched its trailer on March 4, said, “It's one of the best films I've seen. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry and it forces you to take a pause and think.“

Written and directed by Shonali Bose, the film, starring Kalki Koechlin, is inspired by her cousin Malini, who was born with acute cerebral palsy. They spent their teenage years in Mumbai, swimming, watching movies, mooning over boys, dancing and drinking. Says Shonali, “We would face this funny situation when we went out for drinks. I would ask them to pour her drink into a children's sippy cup that always accompanied her and to give us a straw for her. Their eyes would pop out. After I finished the very first draft of the screenplay and was thinking of a title, this just came to me. So, I chose the cocktail - margarita - because it helped bring out the deeper meaning and layer of the film - when life hands you lemons, you can be bitter and sour or you can make a margarita and raise a toast.“

Margarita, With A Straw, produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Jakhotia Group, Kool Homes and Ishan Talkies, releases April 17.
