Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan feels his popularity has gathered momentum prior to the release of his film MSG: The Messenger. He says that the Censor Board's recent outlash got the film in news, adding, “The controversies have worked in our favour. But the mass resignations that followed were not over my film. The appropriate authorities have passed my movie.“ The spiritual leader intends to bring about positive social change with this film, which is directed by him along with Jeetu Arora. “My real motive is to create social upliftment and involve more people in this revolution for a better society,“ he says. Yet, the trailer harps on his physical prowess. “It's a Bollywood entertainer with values that the audience expects. The stunts, when seen in the film's context, will inspire the youth to protect women. It is largely a true story with the paraphernalia adding to its entertainment quotient,“ he adds.

Despite the recent hitches, the debutant director considers his film to be a surreal experience. “Around 76,000 people turned up for a song I choreographed. The crowd participation was heartening,“ he concludes.

MSG: The Messenger, produced by Hakikat Entertainment, releases today.
