Big-ticket Hollywood film
Kingsman: The Secret Service, two Oscar winners, Wild
and Whiplash, two new Bollywood releases and last Friday's release,
Varun Dhawan's Badlapur which is growing everyday with positive
word-of-mouth publicity has resulted in Ganesh Acharya deferring Hey
Bro's release by one week. The film which was to open today will now
enter the theatres next Friday, along with Mallika Sherawat's Dirty
Politics, and the little-known Coffee Bloom.
“I was getting zero screens this week. But on March 6, I can open in over 500 theatres, so the extra expenses I will incur in changing the date of release in the promotional ads and hoardings is justified,“ points out Acharya, whose wife Vidhi has produced the film.
However, the choreographer-turned-producer is not disheartened. “A small technician like me will always have to make way for the big banners. No one can question them. At least this way I can take advantage of Holi. My colourful film will benefit hugely from the holiday weekend,“ he avers.
His only grouse is that his “family entertainer“ has been given a U/A certification. “I was targeting kids, they were my main audience, but I couldn't get a Universal rating because of the action scenes. Nonetheless, I have no regrets,“ he sighs.
