Sources say Akshay Kumar to squeeze in the shoot of a Holi song for his next with Anees Bazmee, amid Bhooth Bangla promotions
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; March 12, 2026)
Akshay Kumar may be currently promoting his upcoming release, ‘Bhooth Bangla’, but he will soon trade fear for festivities. mid-day has learnt that in the last week of March, the superstar will squeeze in the shoot of a Holi song for his yet-untitled film with director Anees Bazmee.
Ganesh Acharya will choreograph the number that will be shot in a Mumbai studio where a set depicting a bustling mohalla will be created. Kumar will be joined by leading lady Vidya Balan in the song.
An insider shared, “It’s a full-blown Holi sequence, the kind that brings together a lot of colour, dancers, and celebratory energy. The plan is to have around 300-400 background dancers on set, as Akshay and Vidya’s characters lead the celebrations in the gully. The mohalla-style set also includes balconies and terraces from where revellers will join the celebration. Ganesh has also designed a hook step that he hopes will catch on.”
Tiger Shroff and Lakshya begin shooting for electrifying dance face-off for Lag Jaa Gale

Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; December 25, 2025)
In October, mid-day had reported that Lakshya of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood fame and Tiger Shroff were set to lock horns in Lag Jaa Gale, a revenge actioner (Here to fight, here to rise, Oct 21). For now, the two actors seem to be taking their rivalry to the dance floor.
Sources have told us that director Raj Mehta began shooting a dance-off at Mukesh Mills in Colaba on December 24. Over 100 professional dancers have been flown in for the Ganesh Acharya-choreographed number.
An insider close to the production said, “It has been conceptualized as a full-blown dance-off. Every beat is designed to contrast Tiger’s explosive dancing style with Lakshya’s easygoing moves.”
The two actors have been rehearsing for the past three weeks, before they came together for the joint run-throughs earlier this week. The song is expected to be wrapped up by December 29.
1 day Dadi Ki Shaadi shoot remained as there was talk of conflict between India and Pakistan-Ashish R Mohan

Director Ashish R Mohan on wrapping up ‘Dadi Ki Shaadi’ after the end-credit song and scene with Riddhima Sahni
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; December 7, 2025)
The buzz has been building since April when the announcement was first made — Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma would star in Dadi Ki Shaadi, marking Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s Bollywood debut. Now, director Ashish R Mohan tells mid-day that the family entertainer is set to wrap up soon, and he hopes to release it on Mother’s Day (May 10, 2026) or sometime in April.
After a 40-day schedule in Shimla, Mohan shares that although most of the shoot is complete, some patchwork scenes, including an end-credit song, remain to be filmed in January.
“I wanted to complete the film after I locked my release date. We had shot a song choreographed by Ganesh [Acharya] master in Shimla earlier this year, but a one-day shoot remained as there was talk of a [conflict between] India and Pakistan,” he recollects.
On May 7, India launched strikes on Pakistan in an operation code-named Operation Sindoor. For safety, Mohan returned to Mumbai with the cast and crew.
He shares that the finale number features “700 children from the schools in Shimla and outside and has the entire cast in it. I will invite the entire cast to come down [to] shoot the song and scenes — in Golden Tobacco Factory or Film City. [We also have] one-day scene to shoot with Riddhima,” adds the filmmaker.
Currently in post-production, Dadi Ki Shaadi is a comedy revolving around a family who gets involved in a family matriarch’s marriage. Earlier, the film — also starring South superstar Sarath Kumar, Nikhat Hegde, Tejaswini Kolhapure, and Sadia Khateeb — was planned for a December release. The makers will now announce the release date on December 20.
Mujhe kabhi nahi laga ki Laapataa Ladies keval ladies ki film hai-Sparsh Shrivastava

Niharika Lal (BOMBAY TIMES; July 24, 2025)
When Sparsh Shrivastava first read the script of Laapataa Ladies, he didn’t see Deepak just as a boy who loses his wife on a train. He saw someone carrying the entire film. “Deepak ka jo character hai, woh shuru mein apni wife ko leke chalta hai, then he loses his wife, and in the entire film, he’s only searching for her. That’s the whole character,” he says, adding, “There was nothing much. Pata nahi kyun, mujhe kabhi laga hi nahi ki yeh keval ladies ki film hai. Mujhe hamesha laga yeh utni hi meri bhi film hai.”
In a recent chat with us, he recalled his Agra and Delhi days and spoke about finding footing in the industry.
‘JITNA ZYADA AAP APNE CHARACTER KE SAATH TIME BITANE LAGTE HO, WOH AAPKE ACTING MEIN AANE LAGTA HAI’
Sparsh says the honesty of his character Deepak was in the eyes. “Jitna zyada aap apne character ke saath time bitane lagte ho, woh aapke acting mein aane lagta hai. Meri honesty uss character ko leke, zara sa bhi corrupt nahi hui. Mujhe hamesha laga yeh utni hi meri bhi film hai jitni makers ki.” At a meeting at Aamir Khan’s house after the film finished, he remembers, “Aamir sir ne bola, ‘You’ve brought the character above the paper.’”
‘MAKERS ARE LOOKING FOR ACTORS, NOT NAMES’
Sparsh isn’t naive about the way the industry treats people differently. “People say there’s no balance in the industry and different people get treated differently. But aaj bahut badal gaya hai. Makers are looking for actors, not names. Having worked with directors like Kiran Rao, Soumendra Padhi, and Sonam Nair, I’ve seen them treat the spot boy with as much warmth as someone coming in to shoot for just an hour.”
‘AB JAB AGRA JATA HOON, TOH TOURIST KI FEELING KE SAATH JATA HOON’
Sparsh says the joy of working still colours his memories – whether it was 17-hour rehearsals as a child or shuttling between Agra and Delhi for dance classes, and between Agra and Mumbai for work. At 8 or 9, he’d travel to Delhi for classes at Shiamak Davar’s institute. And even now, he finds himself caught between the cities. “Jab main Mumbai mein hota hoon, toh sabse zyada Agra ki language miss karta hoon. Aur jab Agra jata hoon, toh tourist ki feeling ke saath jata hoon,” he laughs.
‘I’m a really good dancer’
Sparsh says what matters more than dialogue is silence. He says, “I love playing parts where I don’t have to say much and I could emote through my body, eyes, movements.” “The reason might be simple – ‘I’m a really good dancer,’” he admits, grinning. “To be a good dancer, you have to express a lot.” At 11, he won Chak Dhoom Dhoom, a reality dance show, after hours of daily rehearsals.
In the web show Dupahiya, Sparsh did danced to the Photua song in a ghaghra-choli. “Ganesh Master ji (Ganesh Acharya) choreographed it. Sabko ghaghra-choli pehnake perform karwaya. Earlier we thought the back dancers would be girls, but it was his idea to keep everyone – even the background dancers – as men. It’s really unusual to see a song like that in a web show,” he says.
Varun Dhawan to shoot lavish song for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor

Varun Dhawan to take a break from the shoot of Border 2 to film a song with Janhvi Kapoor for Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; February 5, 2025)
It has been a month of war cry and action for Varun Dhawan, who has been shooting for Border 2 in Jhansi. But by February-end, the actor will take a break from the intense war drama and enjoy some song-and-dance instead. We’ve heard Dhawan will fly back to Mumbai to film a lavish song for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Shashank Khaitan’s directorial venture that also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf. The dance number, featuring Dhawan and Kapoor, will be shot on a specially constructed set in Madh Island between February 24 and 28.
A source from the production shares, “The shoot of Sunny Sanskari… was wrapped up last September. Only this song is remaining. Shashank wants a vibrant number that captures the film’s light-hearted mood. In his previous offerings, the director has had popular dance numbers—be it Saturday Saturday from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania [2014] or the title track in Badrinath Ki Dulhania [2017]. He wants an energetic and foot-tapping track this time too.”
Ganesh Acharya has been roped in to choreograph the number, which will include 50 background dancers.
Shah Rukh Khan would come to slums at night to meet his staff’s family-Sunil Pal

Posted by Fenil Seta

HINDUSTAN TIMES (June 7, 2024)
Comedian-actor Sunil Pal unearthed from the memory bank a heartwarming gesture that actor Shah Rukh Khan used to extend to his staff member’s family, sans entourage or security.
“Shah Rukh’s boy Subhash — he is no more — used to live in the slum where I also used to live on rent. SRK used to visit his house once every four to six months. If it was his kid’s birthday or if there was another occasion,” Pal told Bollywood Bubble, adding, “He would come after 12 or 1 in the night, when it was dark. He would come silently, stay for 10-15 minutes and leave.”
Pal, who has never shared screen space with Khan even though the two appeared in cameos in Krazzy 4 (2008), went on to recall a memorable meeting with the actor in Singapore.
“I had gone for a tour to Singapore. A show was being held in a stadium there and I remember, after the event, Shah Rukh introduced every artiste, including me, to the audience. (Choreographer) Ganesh Hegde, who was also present, told me to come to the green room and perform in front of SRK. He entered the room with a drink and cigarette in his hand, and I started mimicking his popular dialogues in front of him,” he shared.
Female actors aren’t generally taken seriously-Sai Tamhankar

Mihir Bhanage (BOMBAY TIMES; April 16, 2024)
Few things can get Sai Tamhankar to skip work and nursing a sore throat definitely isn’t one of them. Over a cup of hot coffee on a hot April afternoon just before heading to an event in the city, the actress spoke to us about the new phase of her life, dancing on screen and conveying one's thoughts in the right manner. Excerpts:
‘With great power comes great responsibility’
That’s a Spider-Man line that Sai swears by when it comes to speaking about things that bother her.
Does it mean she looks the other way? No, but the actress tries to find a way in which her statement isn’t wrongly interpreted. “Fame is a double-edged sword. Your words hold weightage, but they can be held against you. I feel that’s alright too, and I accept it. Having said that, this shouldn’t stop you from saying what you feel. What matters is how and where you say it. Don’t be in an urgency to react,” says the actress, adding, “While shooting for Mimi, Pankaj Tripathi ji said a very interesting thing about finding the opportunity to present your thoughts through a character. That changed my perspective.”
‘Auditioning for roles is an ongoing process’
Sai will soon be seen with Emraan Hashmi and Pratik Gandhi in two different projects - Ground Zero and Agni. The actress tells us that she auditioned for both projects and that auditions are an ongoing process.
"Over the years, I have learned that auditions are not about questioning an actor’s talent but about how you fit a specific character or look. If you maintain a positive approach towards them, life becomes easy. Till date I have butterflies in my stomach when I audition for roles, and I think that is how it should be too,” she says.
Changing perceptions and the YOLO mantra
A string of successful projects, a beautiful home and a swanky set of four wheels later, the Pondicherry actress feels that you have only one life and you should do what makes you happy in it. “I am happy with what I have achieved. Yes, I took some risks, but I feel you need those to keep going in life,” she shares.
The actress also feels that when you continuously do good work, there’s a definite change in the public perception. “Maybe it's more to do with female actors because we aren’t generally taken seriously. Don't know if there's a specific reason for that, but I have realized that perception too can change when you keep doing good work. Gradually, there’s more weight in your words, people listen to you. I have observed this happening with me over the last few years.”
On her takeaway from Bhakshak...
Sai’s role of a cop in Bhakshak, with Bhumi Pednekar in the lead, was appreciated by many. The actress’ takeaway from the film? “The topic we were addressing in Bhakshak (which was about young girls facing abuse at a shelter home), was intense, difficult, bothering and unsettling,” says Sai, adding, “My takeaway from the film was that hope pe zindagi kayam hai, and also a reassurance that there are people who use the power they have to do good in the society.”
More dancing on screen?
Among the things that Sai got cold feet for earlier was dancing on screen. But that changed post Param Sundari (Mimi) and the actress also shook a leg to Dil Mein Baji Guitar (Sridevi Prasanna) recently.
"Param Sundari was the turning point and Ganesh masterji (choreographer Ganesh Acharya) is instrumental in removing my mental block about dancing. For Dil Mein Baji Guitar, Siddharth Chandekar and I were sailing in the same boat, but both of us enjoyed the experience. Earlier, I would feel like going to write an exam before heading for a dance shoot. Now I look forward to it,” she shares. So, expect to see more dancing from Sai in upcoming projects.

Sources say Vidya and Kartik to shoot massive dance sequence, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, for horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; March 11, 2024)
Over the weekend, Kartik Aaryan reprised his role of Rooh Baba as he kicked off the shoot of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in Mumbai. The popular horror comedy’s third instalment, helmed by Anees Bazmee, will mark Vidya Balan’s return to the franchise after her memorable turn as Manjulika in the 2007 original. We hear Balan and leading man Aaryan will soon shoot a massive song sequence, which will be choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.
In two weeks, the duo will unite on camera for the first time to film the number, which is said to be a crucial dance piece in the movie.
A source reveals, “The song will be an elaborate affair and will be canned over seven days. The track has been composed and approved. Vidya and Kartik will do a few days’ prep with Ganesh’s team before hitting the floor. Right now, the makers are zeroing in on the venue where the set will be put up. After some sequences and the dance number are canned in Mumbai, the cast and crew will move to Rajasthan and West Bengal for extensive schedules.”
Actor Triptii Dimri, who is on a high after the success of Animal (2023), is the new entrant in the world of the horror comedy.
Back in the Valley: Shah Rukh Khan shoots in Kashmir after 11 years, for Dunki

Idrees Bukhtiyar (HINDUSTAN TIMES; April 28, 2023)
Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu yesterday wrapped up the Kashmir leg of the shoot for their upcoming film, Dunki.
A source close to the film’s unit says, “SRK shot near the Thajiwas glacier located at an altitude of 10,000 ft above the sea level, where the set had been established.”
Upon arrival on Monday, Khan was directly flown to a tourist resort in Sonamarg amid tight security arrangements. With this, the Pathaan actor visited Kashmir after a gap of 11 years. He was last there to shoot for late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
Joined by his co-star Pannu for the Rajkumar Hirani directorial, the two were seen romancing in the meadows of Sonamarg. “They shot for a love song with choreographer Ganesh Acharya. They also shot in Pampore and Srinagar,” confirms a crew member, adding that the team shot under three-tier security cover in the militancy-hit valley.
“No unnecessary movement of the locals was allowed close to the area falling within the film set. We didn’t want the shoot to be disrupted in any case as back in 2012 when he was shooting for JTHJ in Pahalgam, we came across the huge rush of fans on the sets which halted our shoot and then we had to block the road leading to our set. This time, we [wanted to] ensure that things go smoothly,” adds the crew member.
A hut, with Turkish ambience, was set up near Thajiwas glacier, where both the actors were scheduled to shoot.

Bholaa: Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan make a new beginning in Banaras

Ajay Devgn kicks off Bholaa’s UP schedule with theme song shoot; to film crucial dramatic scenes with Abhishek Bachchan during 10-day stint
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; December 9, 2022)
For Ajay Devgn, the past few weeks have been all about Drishyam 2. Now, as the crime thriller is enjoying a strong run at the box office, the actor has retraced his steps to the world of Bholaa. On December 6, he kicked off the Banaras schedule of the action thriller, which is an official adaptation of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Tamil hit, Kaithi (2019). Over the 10-day schedule, Devgn will shoot two important elements — the film’s theme song, and dramatic scenes featuring Abhishek Bachchan who makes a special appearance.
We hear Devgn, who doubles up as the director on the Tabu-starrer, is first tackling the song. While Bholaa is set over one night as a released convict helps the cops catch gangsters in exchange for seeing his daughter, the track will delve into the titular character’s back-story — from his early years, to his romance with on-screen wife Amala Paul, and how things spiralled out of control, leading him to prison.
A source reveals, “The track has been composed by KGF - Chapter 2 music director Ravi Basrur, and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. Ajay will can the number over the next four days. Simultaneously, Abhishek is filming some portions with a small team.”
Bachchan will take centre-stage after the song is wrapped up. Though details of his special appearance are being closely guarded, sources tell us he plays a gangster on a mission to retrieve a lost contraband. “Abhishek will be seen sporting a rugged look, complete with a beard. While a large chunk of the movie has been shot on sets in Hyderabad and Mumbai, Ajay was clear that the confrontational sequences and the theme song would be filmed in real locations in Uttar Pradesh.”
The source adds that Bachchan’s character will feature more prominently in the Bholaa sequel that is in the works. If things go as planned, Devgn will call it a wrap on the movie by the month-end after another song and patchwork shoot.
Ukraine was becoming a popular location with Indian filmmakers

Location managers and production assistants say that shooting in Ukraine used to be 20-30% cheaper than other Eastern European countries
BOMBAY TIMES (February 28, 2022)
In recent years, a number of Indian films and series including RRR, 99 Songs, Dev, Winner and Special Ops 1.5 were filmed in various locations in Ukraine. Location managers and production assistants say that in the last few years Ukraine was becoming a popular film shooting destination for Indian projects because it offers picturesque locations at lower costs, and shooting there used to be 20-30% cheaper than other Eastern European countries.
Natarajan Ramji, a location manager, who arranges shoots abroad for Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, says, “For Indian filmmakers, Ukraine was the most suitable location in Europe from a financial perspective and also in terms of filmmaking, with good local crew and actors.”
Natarajan Ramji says, “The locations there can be matched with the settings of other places, like Paris, London, the US and even some Indian locales. The people, too, were friendly. While January to April is peak winter there, we had a few shoots planned there from May.”
He was also part of the shoot of an untitled Tamil film starring Saravanan Arul and Urvashi Rautela, which was shot in Ukraine in December. He was in Kiev in the first week of February this year as well to organise permissions for the shoot of an upcoming film. “Obviously, it is not going to be considered as a probable location for some time now,” Ramji adds.
Satish Sharma, director of Indo-Soviet Films that coordinates for shoots in Ukraine, says, “Almost a decade back I coordinated the shoot of a series Raja Vaska in Ukraine, India and Russia. Since then we have been doing a lot of projects in Ukraine. In fact, my next project Marshall, directed by Ganesh Acharya, was to be filmed in Ukraine in May. We had planned the shoot in summer and winter, but now it doesn’t seem possible. My last project in Ukraine was Neeraj Pandey’s Special Ops. We were also planning to shoot Shivaay in Ukraine, but at that time also there was news of some disturbances so we changed the location to Bulgaria. A number of songs from south films have been shot in Kiev, Lviv and the Carpathian mountains”
Satish adds that Ukraine was becoming a popular location among Indian filmmakers when Coronavirus hit. “My partner in Ukraine was planning to organise an event in India in January to promote Ukraine’s film shooting locations, but due to Omicron he couldn’t come. My friends from Ukraine have been showing me the situation on video calls and sending videos of the place where they are hiding. It doesn’t look like we will be able to film in the country anytime soon,” he says.

As TV shows resume, faceless applauders eager to reclaim seats, lives
8:13 AM
Posted by Fenil Seta
Sharmila Ganesan (THE TIMES OF INDIA; February 13, 2021)
These days, every time a famous deadpan Hindi comedian unleashes another dry punchline on his TV screen back home in Rajasthan, Gulshan must fight the impulse to clap and hoot too loudly. Trained by the applause cues of TV shows in Mumbai’s Film City for four whole months before the Coronavirus lockdown, cheering is muscle memory for Gulshan, a 25-year-old Bollywood hopeful who had been working as a paid TV audience member since December 2019 to afford both his Rs 4,000-per-month paying guest rent in Borivli and his “struggle”.
“My mother knows about my acting dreams but not about this,” says Gulshan, referring to the job that required sitting all day, controlling your bladder through prolonged shoots and screaming hoarse at opportune moments in the hope that the capricious cameras glimpse your aspiring-model face. At Rs 300-odd-plus-meals-aday, this daily grind hardly felt like showbiz but it assured enough sustenance and “inspirational” star-gazing to make him hunger for the old normal after he fled home to Rajasthan penniless following lockdown. “Clapping with family around feels weird,” says Gulshan, now eager to book a return ticket to professional invisibility in Mumbai next month.
It seems the cautiously-reopening floors of TV shows are their own applause cue for these faceless extras of reality TV, whose livelihood comes from feigning high spirits and who found themselves temporarily replaced by non-hungry cardboard cutouts and video standees onscreen. Desperate, these fleetingly-acknowledged audiences on the fringes of the entertainment industry have been doing odd jobs through Unlock, all the while texting audience co-ordinators and crowd suppliers for work.
Among the floating 150 to 200 faces that appear in each show are middle-aged housewives and retirees too but chiefly college students who pay their fees this way. “Some do it for time pass or pocket money but a majority of them are underprivileged people who depend on it for survival,” says Nitu Kothari, an audience coordinator who has been avoiding several calls and text messages with the same question: “Didi, kuch kaam hai?”
While TV embraces all age groups in its seats, it follows its own hierarchy--seating the “fair and good-looking types” in the front, reserving the “aunties and uncles” for serious talk shows. After the pandemic stole their seats, some returned to their hometowns and turned salesmen while some others have been coasting along on what model coordinator Tarif K calls their “balance”. Zoheb—another model coordinator who himself started out as a prolific applauder for Rs 125 per day 16 years ago—has been undertaking catering and driving jobs to live up to his earlier standard of Rs 30,000 a month.
Fighting even deeper facelessness in Kalwa is 23-year-old background artiste Shubham Tiwari, the breadwinner of his three-member home and a full-time fan of choreographer Ganesh Acharya. The lockdown intensified Shubham’s camouflage further when he donned gloves over his former clapping hands and spritzed local offices with disinfectants clad in a PPE kit. Today, Shubham works as an errand boy in a local guest house, treasures a selfie with Acharya from a pre-Covid shoot and, unable to afford dance classes, practices the dance moves of reality shows in private.
Besides the dal, chicken, roti, papad and omelette staples, Shubham misses the glittery, air-conditioned, buzzy TV ambience that paid his electricity and water bills. Even though he never got to sit in the prized front row and screamed several times to seduce the camera in vain, that one time he appeared behind a dance contestant in a rickshaw driver’s garb was its own high. “I had to borrow Rs 20,000-Rs 30,000 from my uncle to survive six months of lockdown,” says Shubham, adding that he will go back to clapping for a living in a heartbeat. But won’t that train-less commute from Kalwa to Goregaon cost him almost Rs 400 more each way? “I’ll ask them for conveyance,” Shubham says, cueing neither for applause nor for laughter.
First Look: Isabelle Kaif to romance Pulkit Samrat in Suswagatam Khushaamadeed

Onkar Kulkarni (BOMBAY TIMES; January 21, 2021)
The makers of Suswagatam Khushaamadeed have signed Isabelle Kaif to play the female lead opposite Pulkit Samrat in the film. The entertainer, which also conveys the message of social harmony, stars Pulkit as Delhi-boy Aman, while Isabelle plays Noor who is from Agra. Talking about his costar Isabelle, who is Katrina Kaif ’s sister, Pulkit says, “Isabelle has brought fresh energy on the set. She’s extremely hardworking and has impressed everyone on the set. She is stunning and brings a streak of innocence to her character. She has left me mesmerized.”
The duo began the project with a contemporary dandiya raas dance number choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. “To match up to Masterji’s choreography is not an easy task, but Isabelle is picking up steps really well,” Pulkit says. Titled Ban Piya, the song features Pulkit and Isabelle in black and gold desi costumes with 400 background dancers in traditional outfits. “It is one of my biggest songs. It looks so colourful. The way it is shot it will leave people stunned while watching it on the big screen. Masterji has introduced some interesting steps, and the hook step is quite catchy.” Suswagatam Khushaamadeed is helmed by Dhiraj Kumar and written by Manish Kishore.
Ask him about their on-screen chemistry and Pulkit says, “I must say that our chemistry is quite dhamakedaar. People on the set say that we look like a patakha together (laughs!).”
Speaking about the song and the jodi, Ganesh tells BT, “The song is a mix of a Jagrata and dandiya dance and the leading couple has done justice to it. I know Pulkit is a fantastic dancer, but Isabelle surprised me as she is new, but she learned the steps with ease. The two rehearsed for several days, and the romance and the chemistry that comes across on the screen is perfect!”
Suswagatam Khushaamadeed is produced by Insite India and Endemol Shine India in association with Yellow Ant Productions.
Salman Khan meets Akshay Kumar but don't talk about their impending Eid clash

But the friends didn’t talk about their upcoming Eid clash during the closed-door interaction
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 2, 2020)
On Saturday, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar were shooting on adjacent sets at Mehboob Studios in Bandra for their respective films, Radhe and Laxmmi Bomb, which are gearing up for a big box-office face-off this Eid. Salman arrived at about 3 pm, and on learning that Akshay was shooting next door, strolled over to his vanity van. They remained inside for nearly 15 minutes, before getting back to their shoots.
The closed-door chat sparked speculation about whether the duo met to discuss the clash and try to push around the release date. But according to a source, it was just a casual meeting between friends and business wasn’t discussed. “There is no bad blood between them because of the upcoming clash,” the informer assured.
Salman’s shoot went on till late night while Akshay was done by evening, followed by a wrap-up party with the cast and crew. He had been shooting for the climax action scene and a song in his transgender avatar for the last six days in the studio and was happy to let his hair down with food and music. “They even played a cricket match on the sets, with Akshay leading one team and Ganesh Acharya (choreographer) as the captain of the other,” added the source, saying the Khiladi Kumar’s close friend, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, was spotted at the party, too.
#MeToo: Another woman speaks out against Ganesh Acharya

Complainant writes to National Commission for Women detailing assault that allegedly happened in 1990; choreographer denies allegation
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; February 5, 2020)
Barely a week after an assistant dancer filed an FIR against Ganesh Acharya, another senior background dancer approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday alleging sexual abuse at the hands of the Bollywood choreographer in 1990.
Acharya denied the second set of allegations too, saying he is being maligned. In her letter addressed to the NCW, the woman stated that Acharya coerced her into having sex with him in 1990.
"It happened to me three decades ago. I have been married and have had kids, but he hasn't changed one bit. When I read about the FIR, I knew I had to speak up too. In 1990, I used to go to Sahiba hall in Andheri West where several masters take dance classes. Acharya used to assist Kamal masterji. I was 18 then and working as a non-member dancer," the woman told mid-day.
"One day, Acharya said it's mandatory to learn Jive for auditions and invited me to his class in Santacruz East. Classes were held on Sundays at 11 am. His assistant Dilip picked me up from Khar subway and dropped me to a room on the first floor of Hotel East and West. I did not suspect anything till that point," she said.
"There were no other students. Acharya said Dilip has gone to bring the sound system and other students. On the pretext of teaching me Jive, he kissed my neck and cheeks.
"When I resisted, he threw me on the bed and said he wanted to make love to me and marry me. I kept saying no but he kept moving his hands over my body. I was too terrified and told him I am on my period. He finally got off from me and said, 'Kya yaar, mood kharab kar diya'," the woman said.
The woman ran out of the hotel and did not return to his class. "He got other students to call me and ask what the problem was. He said he was willing to waive off the fees. I know another person with whom he tried something similar. It's shocking that he is still misusing his power," she said in her complaint.
The first complainant said that there must be many more with whom he is doing the same. "He can claim that people are trying to malign him, but there are many with similar stories."
"It has been 30 years since the incident, but my anger hasn't gone. I never told anyone about his behaviour and the incident except my husband. It's time that we women speak up", the latest complainant said.
Acharya's response
Acharya told mid-day that these are concocted stories part of a conspiracy against him. "I have explained in a press conference that some people are tarnishing my image because I took a stand against them. They control trade unions in the industry. My stand against them and in the interest of dancers is causing them losses. Everyone involved in these wrongdoings against me will be exposed. They may do many such things against me, but I will not give up," he said.

The 33-year-old woman has accused him of depriving her of work and forcing her to watch adult videos
Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; February 2, 2020)
Five days after a 33-year-old assistant choreographer filed a non-cognisable offence against Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who is also the general secretary of the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association (IFTCA), for allegedly expelling her membership, depriving her of work, demanding commission and forcing her to watch adult videos, Acharya has now filed a counter NC against her. The lady also approached the National Commission for Women a few days ago against Ganesh.
THE ALLEGATIONS LEVELLED BY HER
Talking about the issue, she said, “I started working as a coordinator for dancers in November 2019. However, because of certain issues in the past, Ganesh Acharya, who is the general secretary of IFTCA, used his position to expel me from the association and also directed other members to stop working with me, because I refused to give him commission. I am sitting at home unemployed since two months. That’s when I approached Saroj ji (Khan), who assured me that they would look into the matter at the Special General Meeting (SGM), which was held on Sunday. While I was sitting in the corridor waiting to present my side of the story, Ganesh came out and started screaming. He said, ‘Yeh kya kar rahi hai yahaan par? Isko thappad aur laat maar kar baahar nikaalo’. Two women assaulted me on his instructions.”
She added, “In my complaint to NCW, I have also stated that Ganesh, who would often be found watching adult videos every time I visited his office, forced me to watch them, too. I reprimanded him and told him that if he ever repeated it or called me, I would file a complaint against him with the association and the police.”
GANESH ACHARYA REFUTES HER CLAIMS
BT spoke to Ganesh Acharya, who said, “She was part of a group of dancers I worked with in 2007. Apart from that, I don’t know this girl at all. The accusations of assault in my presence and on my instructions are false, as I had left for a shoot before the altercation between her and the two others took place.”
Regarding the accusations of expelling her because she didn’t agree to pay him a commission and forcing her to watch adult videos, he said, “The decision to expel a member is taken after everyone’s consent, and she was expelled owing to her crude and unflattering remarks on dance masters. I am against the practice of commission and don’t work with coordinators, so why will I demand commission from her? Disgruntled by the termination of her membership, she sent letters and notices to IFTCA and its members making false and frivolous allegations of not letting her work and harassing her. However, in these alleged complaints, there was no mention of her latest cooked-up story of porn videos being shown to her. Her accusations are false and baseless.”
Ganesh’s lawyer, Ravi Suryawanshi said, “We have given a written complaint to the Oshiwara Police on January 31 against her for defamation and filed an NC for the same. We have also lodged a complaint at Amboli police station against her for filing a false complaint. Ganesh Acharya will soon be initiating legal proceedings against her and her accomplices.”

Saroj Khan accuses fellow choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who denies the charge, claims no affiliation to a new body
Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 17, 2020)
On December 26, 2019, the All India Film Television Events Dancers Association (AIFTEDA) was formed, allegedly by disgruntled former members of the Cine Dancers Association (CDA). Now, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who was recently accused by the latter for paying dancers less than the mandated rates, finds himself in the middle of a tussle between the old and the new associations.CDA representative and veteran choreographer Saroj Khan claims Acharya formed the new association, “using his position to manipulate dancers and malign the old association (CDA).”
“CDA was established in 1955 and has given dancers like Remo D’souza and Ahmed Khan to the industry. Even Ganesh and his father were a part of it. Starting a new organisation by boycotting your roots is disloyalty,” she says, adding, “Ganesh has been badmouthing CDA all over the industry and poaching its dancers by promising more money. They are dividing the dance community. Ganesh has his own people take the posts in the new association.”
While she claims Acharya has showed no interest in a truce, the latter says that he is not affiliated to the new body and is still a CDA member. “I was just present at the AIFTEDA inauguration as the dancers had invited me. Even they want to return to the CDA but only after a fair election and if they get fair wages,” he informs.
Acharya goes to add that CDA was shut down six months ago following a legal dispute that began in 2018. “But three months ago, Zahid Shaikh, Deric Biswas, Al Fahim Surani and Ravi Kanwar reopened it without showing any court orders to do so and filled up the posts without elections. Now, they are pressuring dancers to join the association again,” he said.

MUMBAI MIRROR (December 26, 2019)
On Wednesday, Mirror spotted Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif at the Goregaon Bus depot. The actor duo was shooting for a song in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi after wrapping up the modern version of “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” in Hyderabad earlier this year.
Colour-coordinated in black, the film’s leads were surrounded by back-up dancers and four helicopters as they shook a leg on cue. “The shoot began early in the morning and the song was being choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. It was a larger-than-life set-up with bikes and cars also involved in the sequence,” informs a source.
In the tradition of Rohit Shetty actioners, a sedan suspended from a crane was also a part of the set-up. In October, the filmmaker shot the climax of his next cop-drama in a 20-day schedule with his new leading man, Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba. The action-packed sequence will be a blend of maar-dhaad and humour, with a dramatic build-up that justifies the crossover in his cop-verse.

Dutta files protest petition against clean chit given to Nana Patekar; says witnesses were not examined, electronic evidence ‘botched up’
Sharmeen Hakim (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 6, 2019)
Rebutting the clean chit given by the Oshiwara police to actor Nana Patekar and three others in the sexual harassment case against them, actor Tanushree Dutta has accused the police of carrying out a “farcical show of investigation” and sought transfer of probe as well as action against the police officers concerned. In her 40-page protest petition filed in the Andheri metropolitan magistrate court, Dutta has given a breakdown of how crucial witnesses supporting her case were allegedly not examined and electronic evidence was botched up. She has alleged that unlike victims of sexual harassment she was never called to record her statement before a court. She has further claimed that most of the 13 witnesses ‘picked by the police’ were either connected to the accused or working with them.
A magistrate will now decide whether to accept the police’s clean chit given to the accused in June, reject the report or order further investigation. In the June summary report, the police had called Tanushree’s claims ‘false’.
Last year, Dutta had accused Nana Patekar of molesting her during the shoot of a film song in 2008. She had also accused director Rakesh Sarang, producer Samee Siddiqui and choreographer Ganesh Acharya of cover-up. Dutta spoke out after Siddiqui made derogatory remarks against her, saying she was “on her period” to have staged a walkout from the film set so many years ago.
In her petition filed through advocate Nitin Satpute, Dutta has alleged that despite being a complainant in the case she was never informed by the police about the ‘B’ Summary (clean-chit) report. She also said she was for forced to pay for a copy of the report.
Dutta has said that reporter Janice Sequeira interviewed her soon after the incident but Sequera’s statement was ignored by the police. She said that the assistant director of the film was also an eyewitness, and while her statement was partially recorded she was never called to the police station to complete its recording. She has also alleged that another journalist, who was present at the film shoot, was not examined. As per the petition, the police did not even bother to record the statement of the person who had conducted the sting on producer Samee Siddiqui – he had allegedly said “ho gaya hoga aisa touch” about Patekar.
Dutta said two other eyewitnesses, a hair dresser and spot boy, were never called to the police station for recording of statement. She has also claimed that the police recorded the statements of unrelated people – Sudhir Pande, Ramesh Torani and Ratan Jain who were working for CINTAA at the time – and were not present during the incident.
She said that the statements that accompany seizure of the CD against Siddiqui’s “sting” have vital parts missing. She said a 65(B) – a document certifying the authenticity of any content on an electronic device – has deliberately not been taken by the police.
Dutta said Nilesh Pawaskar, the lawyer who had advised her at the time, failed to disclose to her that he had represented Nana Patekar at some time and asked her only to take up the payment issue with the producers despite knowing all that had transpired. Pawaskar told Mirror that the allegations are false and the fact that he represented Patekar was public knowledge. “She should have been better advised by her lawyer.” Pawaskar said.

The duo feature in the recreated version of the 1998 Himesh Reshammiya chartbuster in their upcoming comedy
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 24, 2019)
Remixes are the flavour of the season and Anees Bazmee’s upcoming comedy, Pagalpanti, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat, is in on the trend. “Tum Par Hum Hai Atke”, from the 1998 Salman Khan-Kajol romcom, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, has been recreated by composer Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Mika. Shot at real locations across London for three-four days, it has John Abraham wooing lady love Ileana D’Cruz with background dancers prancing around.“The scale of this song is spectacular, a notch above the original,” promises Ganesh Acharya, who had, incidentally, also choreographed the original. “While no one can do what Salman and Kajol did, John and Ileana have done well to match up to the original.” He goes on to reveal that the original was shot amidst heavy rains. “Can you imagine, we managed to pull it off in just three hours, and the song has attained cult status today!” he marvels.
While John, who counts the song among his favourites, “thoroughly enjoyed dancing to it,” Ileana admits to being nervous before filming as “recreating a classic is always met with certain expectations but shooting with Ganesh master made it easier”. Anees says he loves the way John has performed in this song and believes there should be more such songs with him.
Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya marked Himesh Reshammiya’s debut as a composer. He is ecstatic that a lot of his songs are being remade today. “I am not against remakes, it’s a superb trend. As long as the original composer and lyricist get credit and royalties, it’s great,” he asserts and is grateful to Salman, his brother and the film’s director Sohail and their father Salim Khan for giving him a break. “This song became popular because of its tune, which was composed on a completely experimental, off-beat rhythm,” he points out.
