Everybody’s favourite columnist Twinkle Khanna will
soon be a published author. After reading her super successful columns
in this paper, the former actress, who now runs her interior designing
business was approached by two publishing houses for a three-book deal.
She decided to go with Penguin Random House, and they will be releasing
her book later this year The book does not have a title as yet.
What to write about
A voracious reader herself, she mulled over a long time on what her first book should be about and what the readers would expect from her. She has gathered a devoted fan base with her columns. In fact, Vogue India did a cover with her last year and declared they had a ‘girl crush’ on her after reading her columns. Twinkle didn’t want to disappoint her readers and so she researched and talked to friends and writers like Pritish Nandy and Chetan Bhagat — to name a few — before deciding on the content of her first book.
About the book
While she was debating between a serious book on the life of real person she knows, and short children’s stories, she finally decided that her first book should be a collection of her pieces in After Hrs, she has elaborated on them and even written a few fresh chapters. Says a friend of the actress, “She has often been asked to write a book on her father Rajesh Khanna but she has never even considered that idea. She doesn’t want to go into her family’ private space.”
Family support
Her hubby Akshay Kumar, who is the first to read her columns, encouraged her to write the book. Her son Aarav is mom’s personal cheerleader, who is excited about the book’s release. Twinkle or Tina as she is fondly called, has been in discussion with her sister Rinke and mom Dimple about the title of the book.
