Titled All That Could Have Been, it’s a precursor to what to expect from Hamari Adhuri Kahani, starring Emraan Hashmi and directed by Mohit Suri and written by Mahesh Bhatt. This book, which Bhatt has written in collaboration with Suhita Sengupta, will be released 100 days before HAK’s actual release, on February 25.

What’s the story? Well, Emraan will play wealthy hotelier Aarav, who as a child saw his mother selling her body to many men. He grows up thinking of women as a commodity. Then he meets Vasudha, played by Vidya Balan, a single mother fighting her own demons. He offers her a job at his hotel in Dubai, gets emotional about her and falls in love with her. Both wonder if it is love because Aarav has been detached for the longest time and Vasudha has taught herself not to dream.

Someone who has read the book said, “It is pretty apparent that this is one of the most emotional tales ever to be told by Bhatt saab. Also, it has that personal touch to it, something that always makes his work stand out.” Releasing the book first was always the plan because films based on books generate great curiosity.
