Mirror (November 3, 2014) was the first to report that Vikramaditya Motwane is set to direct a special music video starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma for Anurag Kashyap's period drama, Bombay Velvet. Now, we hear that the music video, which was shot last week was not helmed by the Lootera director. Motwane had to back out from the commitment as he is busy with the pre-production of his Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Bhavesh Joshi, which rolls in March.
According to a source close to the development, "Vikram is neck-deep in his vigilante drama. He wanted to kick off the film in January but because of Sidharth's commitment to Karan Malhotra's Brothers, the schedule was pushed back by two months. Now, that he has confirmed dates from Sid in March, he is busy tying up all the loose ends so that there are no glitches during the shoot."
Once Motwane had explained his position to Anurag, the Bombay Velvet director started to look for a replacement and quickly settled on Queen director Vikas Bahl, who is also one of the producers of the Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma starrer set in the '60s.
The source who has seen the rushes of the video, gushes, "The music video is fantastic! The makers have created a vintage set reminiscent of the jazz clubs of the swinging '60s."
Mirror had previously reported that the song in question is Mohabbat Buri Bimaari, composed by Amit Trivedi. Musician Mikey McCleary, who reworked Khoya Khoya Chand and Hawa Hawaai for Shaitan, has jazzed up the track for the film.
