Arbaaz Khan's Dolly Ki Doli
has put a smile on the face of the audience as well as the producer. He
candidly admits that the collections were modest on the first day.
However, the audience's appreciation for this Abhishek Dogra-directed film has grown with each passing day, as have the box-office numbers.
“Saturday saw more footfall than Friday. More importantly, everyone who saw Dolly... said that it's a sweet and entertaining film. It has been a gratifying journey because it has reinforced my faith in cinema of this kind,“ says the filmmaker of blockbusters like the Dabangg franchise.
He adds, “When you back a new director and make a film with a relatively fresh cast, you often question whether the gamble will pay off. In this case, it has been a step in the right direction. Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Pulkit Samrat along with the rest of the cast have delivered.Whether it is the audience or the critics, everyone has had a good word to say about Dolly...“
Being an integral part of the movie business, Arbaaz understands that there are runaway hits like Dabangg and there are others like Dolly Ki Doli that need nurturing. Hoping that it will make steady headway in the weeks to come, he says, “I'm a patient producer. I've put a product out in the market because I believed in it. I'm sure there will be an increase in footfall because of the uniform positive feedback that I've received. There are films like Queen that have fared better in the second week than in the first one.“
