Richa’s Wednesday night special

Richa Chadha brought in her 27th birthday on Wednesday with a raucous bash at a watering hole in Khar. The guest list included her collaborators and friends. The actress, glamorous in a black strapless gown, greeted her guests at the door.

Nimrat Kaur, fresh from her stint on the American TV show Homeland, was among the first to arrive. She headed straight to the photo booth - decked up with colourful props - to pose with the birthday girl.

By 11 pm, the other guests started trickling in. From designer Manish Malhotra (still exhausted after his niece Rridhi's wedding) to actor Ayushmann Khuranna, producer Ritesh Sidhwani who came in with wife Dolly and director Sudhir Mishra they were all there to raise a toast to Richa. She had by then grabbed a tiara and was playing princess on the dance floor.

The party gathered steam post midnight when a giant cake was cut and Richa's Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap walked in and headed straight to the dance floor. The music switched from Jumme ki raat to London thumakda and finally settled on Ambarsariya as Kashyap showed off some crazy dance moves. He pulled everyone on to the floor, from Randeep Hooda to Aditi Rao Hydari.

A newly-married Pulkit Samrat, who was shooting in Amritsar, drove down straight from the airport with wife Shweta. The duo quickly joined the other revellers. The party wrapped up around 3 am. Ali Fazal and Hooda were among the last ones to leave.

An excited Richa told Mirror, "Despite being a Wednesday, most of my invitees showed up. Those who couldn't, like Deepika Padukone, who is shooting in Benares, sent some really sweet messages. Now, I plan to fly home to Delhi for a family dinner!"
