‘I wrote my wife a song on our wedding day’

Vir Das got married to girlfriend Shivani Kapoor in a ceremony on a private beach in Sri Lanka on October 19. The actor comedian has been in a relationship with the event organiser for the last five years.

"We didn't want anyone live streaming our wedding. So cellphones were banned during the three-day celebrations. But it was an eventful affair - there was a bar in the middle of a pool, water slides, mechanical rodeo bulls and two rock bands," reveals Vir.

The 100-odd guests included childhood friends from all over the world. Most of them are comedians and all of them went on stage and performed a few gags.

"I wrote my bride a song and performed it live to loud cheers," he says, adding that his missus and he are now back to the daily grind. "But we will host a reception in Mumbai for our industry friends. I'm also planning a honeymoon sometime in May. And again the no-cellphone rule will be enforced," he quips.
