In The Shaukeens, Lisa Haydon plays a die-hard fan of Akshay Kumar, who plays himself -a superstar, albeit with a twist. The actress, who has been an Akshay fan, had a hearty laugh when she first read the script. “Akshay is someone I have always admired for the kind of work he has done. When I was offered this role, I knew I was getting a chance to live all those emotions on screen,“ she says.

In the film, she collects unusual memorabilia of the actor and her room is filled with his posters. She even maintains a diary devoted to him. However, Akshay's character doesn't take too kindly to her love for him and feels that she is a stalker.

Director Abhishek Sharma says, “We show you the madness that happens when a crazy fan gets behind an unsuspecting superstar and the hilarious situations that follow.“ The movie also features Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra.

The Shaukeens, produced by Cine1 Studios, Cape of Good Films and Ashwin Varde Productions, releases November 7.
