Keigo Higashino's 'The
Devotion of Suspect X' is ranked amongst the top 10 detective novels of
Japan and is currently being made into a film in various languages
across the world, including in Hollywood. We were the first to tell you
that Ekta Kapoor had acquired the rights for the same in India and that
the director of the outstanding thriller Kahaani, Sujoy
Ghosh, will be directing the film. The book is an atmospheric thriller
about a desperate woman craving a peaceful life, but who ends up killing
her abusive ex-husband. The next-door neighbour helps hide the body and
improvises a cover-up. When the body is eventually found, a determined
investigator senses that something is amiss, thereby giving rise to a
thrilling cat-and-mouse game. We have now exclusively learnt that the
extremely cutting-edge actor Saif Ali Khan has been signed on for the
main
lead and that he will be seen in a completely new avatar in the film.
The book involves three protagonists - two boys and a girl. We will wait
to see who Sujoy will choose for the other two roles. The tough part
would obviously be for him to choose actors who can match up to Saif 's
calibre as an actor.
