Even as boxing champ Mary Kom fights her way to a gold medal tonight at the Asian Games, the director of her biopic, Omung Kumar, is busy adding final touches to his next script. A source told Mirror that his second film is an intense malecentric drama set against the backdrop of World War 1.
Revealed a source close to the filmmaker, "It is based on documented historic events but told from an Indian perspective. He is currently developing the script. A few studios have already shown interest."
The source revealed that the subject demanded extensive research and will involve a lot of VFX. Talks with actors are on. Omung confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, it's true. So many Indians had engaged in World War 1 but their stories haven't been told on screen. The cast should be in place soon."
Omung adds that he had written a musical before Mary Kom went on floors. "It's an extravagant period piece set in London," he reveals. "It's something I've always wanted to direct. I'll go ahead with whichever project materialises."
