Directed by Indra
Kumar and presented by Bharat Shah, Super Nani's lead actors
- Sharman Joshi and newcomer Shweta Kumar - talk about the film and open
up about their rapport with Rekha...
What is the film all about?
Sharman: It's a family drama-comedy, which revolves around a nani, played by Rekha and her grandson. The nani is devoted to the family, but they take her for granted. I play her grandson who inspires her to stand up for herself.
Shweta, being a newcomer, how was the experience of working with seasoned actors?
Working with Rekhaji, Randhirji (Kapoor) and Sharman was a dream come true. Initially, I was nervous not only because I was working with these talented people, but also because my dad was directing the film!
Sharman, given Rekha's beauty and sex appeal, how difficult was it to consider her your nani?
My first onscreen crush was Rekhaji! This is my second film with her and there's this little joke between us. In Lajja, I played her son; in this I'm her grandson. She says in the next film, I may end up playing her great-grandson. And I tell her, 'The way things are going, you're ageing backwards; it is we, mere mortals, who are ageing like normal people, so I will end up playing your great grandfather!'
Is she as diva-esque as she comes across?
Sharman: She is an actor whom I love and admire. I expected her to be like any other human being, which she is. In spite of being a superstar, she takes nothing for granted and that's inspiring. Her focus and energy are amazing.
Shweta: On the first day of our shoot, dad introduced me to her. She hugged me and instantly made me feel comfortable. However, I've been a little unlucky as I couldn't get her to reveal her beauty tips.
Super Nani, produced by Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria, releases October 31.
