Ram Gopal Varma is in the
news again for the wrong reasons. A livid Boney Kapoor has sent him a
legal notice after RGV rechris tened his upcoming Telugu film Sridevi.
Directed by Kiran Prasad with Anushkriti Govind Sharma in the title
role, the film about a teenager's crush on an older woman, was earlier
called Savitri.
Confirming this Boney told Mirror, “Yes, it's true. To have such a film named after my wife is in really bad taste.“
According to a source, Boney had called RGV a couple of days ago to reason with him but he was adamant he'd stick to the title. “After the call, Boney summoned his lawyer and told him to send Ramu a legal notice,“ revealed the source.
Soon after, a few of Sridevi's fans burned RGV's effigy in Vizag on Thursday. RGV's fascination with Sridevi goes back a long way. He had not only made snide comments about her producer-husband but also tried to woo her for his films. He had offered Sridevi Shaque, to be directed by his assistant Rumina, but she did not respond to his calls, texts or personal letter.
RGV did not respond to our texts but he did write on his blog on 5th June 2010: “I don't go to Boney's house these days because I can't bear to see Sridevi in a realistic house, in a realistic atmosphere and with realistic people around... For me, she is like a highly precious diamond, which should be seen, only in beautiful settings or in exotic locations and only in the surroundings of cinematic brilliance... Sridevi is the most beautiful, most sexiest woman God ever created and I think he creates such exquisite pieces of art like her only once in a million years... I thank god for creating Sridevi and I thank Louis Lumiere for creating the movie camera to capture her beauty forever.“
