Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year has some competition. Akshay Kumar's 1999 film Jaanwar will be re-released on a small scale on Friday October 24 in select theatres, on the same day as Happy New Year. What's more, the print of the film has been especially converted into a digital format for the re-release.

Jaanwar, directed and produced by Suneel Darshan, co-starred Karisma Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Mohnish Bahl, Ashish Vidyarthi, Johny Lever and Shakti Kapoor. It was a huge hit in Akshay Kumar's career at a time when he going through a rough patch. It remains to be seen whether audience would once come in hordes to see the film again when it hits screens on October 24.
