Hollywood actress turned-director Lucy Liu made a strong statement on the girl child at the New York premiere of her short film Meena, which also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee.

Since the Indian actress was already in the city for the release of her Canadian film Siddharth, she made the most of her visit and spent time with Lucy.

Speaking to us, Tannishtha said, “Meena is extremely important for Lucy Liu. At the premiere of the movie, she spoke about the sorry state of girl child and how this is not just a problem in developing countries, but something that affects the whole world.“
