Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay
wrote his Bengali novel Devdas when he was 17 years old. This novel
since has been the favourite of many filmmakers, who have adapted it in
their own ways several times. We know that acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir
Mishra has been toying with the idea of making his Aur Devdas (title not
finalised) for a while. We have now learnt that the love story set
against a political backdrop in UP, Sudhir's favourite state, is
ready to go on floor in September with its cast almost finalised. While
Richa Chadha will essay the role of Paro, Rahul Bhat (lead in Anurag
Kashyap's Ugly) will play Devdas. We also heard that Anurag, who looks
up to Sudhir as a mentor and has himself made Dev D, has been
instrumental in helping finalise the cast. Now, one of the key casting
left is that of Chandramukhi for which we believe Sudhir's first choice
is the beautiful Aditi Rao Hydari. Well, if she gives her nod, Richa and
Aditi will make an interesting jodi worth looking out for. Await
Sudhir's official announcement.
