The makers of Rang Rasiya
are kick starting the film's promotion by launching its title song today
across digital mediums and other platforms. Interestingly, director
Ketan Mehta sealed on this date as the film's lead pair, Nandana Sen and
Randeep Hooda, celebrated their birthdays on 19th and 20th August,
respectively .Mehta says this is his gift to the duo since they
waited patiently for the release of the film.
A blend of Indian and Western influences, the film's music has been composed by Sandesh Shandilya. Set in the 19th century, Rang Rasiya is based on the colourful and controversial life of Raja Ravi Varma, one of India's finest painters. Credited as the first artist to have visualised and painted Indian Gods, Varma is seen as an influential figure, who changed the way Indians worship.
Jayantilal Gada says the performances of the lead pair and melodious music lend depth to the drama. He adds, “It deals with a chapter of history that every Indian should know about. That's our only purpose in presenting this film.“
About what prompted him to choose the subject, Mehta says, “It's an inspiring story of an inspiring man -an artist who fought against all odds for the idea of freedom of expression. I simply had to make this film.“ The movie is presented by Jayantilal Gada (PEN) and co-produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada, Kushal Kantilal Gada and Reshmaa Kadakia.
Rang Rasiya, produced by Deepa Sahi and Aanand Mehendroo, releases this Diwali.
