HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA did well in its first week as it grossed around 50.66 crore nett in its first week. The film had a good opening and held up very well on the weekdays in most circuits.

The best business has come in North India with Delhi/UP grossing nearly 12 crore nett and East Punjab going slightly over 6 crore nett. Rajasthan also did well grossing around 3.40 crore nett while Mumbai also held strongly over the weekdays despite an average start.

The business in East and South India is below the mark especially a circuit like Mysore which has grossed only 2 crore nett approx despite being a circuit dominated by multiplexes. The film does not have competition from a major release this week so it remains to be seen how much business it can do before KICK arrives next week.

EK VILLAIN grossed 3.25-3.50 crore nett in its third week to take its business to 97 crore nett. The film was hit hard by the release of HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA which meant collections dropped nearly 85% from the second week.

The film will add around 1 crore nett more for a final total of 98 crore nett. The film has trended similar to Race 2 last year but as EK VILLAIN is less than half the cost of that film it is a very good result for it.

The film will be the biggest hit of the first half of 2014 as its share will just edge past the other super hit film of the year 2 States despite its nett collections being 3 crore less. This is because EK VILLAIN did more business initially when the shares are better.
