Homi Adajania’s film, Finding Fanny, was supposed to premiere at the 39th Toronto Film Festival that starts on September 4. But now it has emerged that the film will no longer be screened at the fest. This move can be traced to the makers’ plans to premiere the film in India around 15 days before its official release.
A source says, “Film festivals across the world insist on films being premiered as part of the fest. But with Finding Fanny premiering in India 15 days prior to its release, the film cannot be shown at the Toronto Film Festival.” The film stars Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia; it will release in India on September 12.
Meanwhile, it is being said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Mary Kom, will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Directed by Omung Kumar, the film is slated to release in India on September 5.
It is being said that Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Omung Kumar and Ajit Andhare of Viacom 18 will attend the world premiere of the film.
