The cult classic Sholay was released 39 years back in 1975, when Ramesh Sippy created the character of Basanti with his favourite actress Hema Malini. Sippy, despite being a blockbuster director, always chose to make different films throughout his career, starting with Andaz, a mature love story to Seeta Aur Geeta, a comedy, to Sholay, an action adventure, to Shaan being a slick action film to Shakti being a drama around the story of a father and a son, to Saagar being a romantic love story. We know that after a hiatus, Ramesh Sippy will be directing once again and we have learnt that the film is titled Shimla Mirchi and stars Hema Malini and Rajkummar Rao. While the actress opposite Rajkummar Rao is still to be finalised, we do know that the film goes on the floors in August and is a sweet, romantic story with its quirky twists. While we will continue to report details of the film as we get them, for now, we can only say that we can't wait to see a Ramesh Sippy film again.
