Now get ready for Rani from Rajouri to spout Chinese. After scoring a surprise hit with the Hindi Queen, the film’s producers have green-lit its Tamil, Telugu and hold-your-breath, Chinese remakes.
Director Vikas Bahl will be creatively involved with these films too, although he won’t direct any of them. Buzz is, a couple of producers were impressed with the film when it was screened at the Busan Film Festival and expressed an interest in remaking it.
Talks were on for a month, after which the producers gave the nod to the remakes. “There’s a Rani in every corner of the world which is why this story found takers everywhere. For some strange reason, a lot of people at Busan fest asked us if it was a Korean film. That’s when it struck us that it’s a universal story. And so, when a couple of producers approached us, we gave the remakes a go-ahead,” says Vikas, who is eager to know who will play Rani in the remakes.
