Irrfan Khan is extremely pleased with the praise that has been bestowed
on his film The Lunch Box by Oscar winner Lupita Nyongo (of 12 Years A
Slave fame). Recently, she posted on a microblogging website: “Just saw
the movie The Lunchbox: the perfect heartwarming love story period, but
specially on a cold and rainy day. “
Irrfan says, “Lupita is a wonderful, marvelous actor. She has won hearts all over the world. Her reaction to our film is most precious. More strength to her.”
Director Ritesh Batra adds, “It is really very kind of her. She’s a fabulous actor, I am glad the film is still playing in the US. The reviews have been very positive. It feels good to see the film reach out to non-traditional audiences, who normally don’t watch Hindi films. It’s been an amazing journey for the film. The French media asked me many questions about the dabbawala culture in Mumbai around which the film’s story is woven. The foreigners seem to have connected with the film’s emotional epicentre wholeheartedly. I’ve to confess I never thought the film would go this far.”
