After playing a neta-inthe-making in Kai Po Che, Amit Sadh will now be seen as a salesman from Bihar who comes to Amritsar to sell sarees in the Amit Roy-directed Running Shaadi.com, which has been written by first-timer Navjot Gulati. With the help of Taapsee Pannu, Sadh’s character starts a website to help couples elope from opposing parents.
“When I was around 20, I used to work for a multinational company at Delhi’s Connaught Place. I would go door-to-door selling shoes. Who would have thought that experience would come in handy today,” he laughs, before adding, "I feel every experience helps you grow as a person. Actors, especially, draw a lot from personal encounters."
He even helped his manager elope with his girlfriend. “Both were living in Patna, and one night we plotted their escape to Delhi and even got them married,” he reminisces.
As luck would have it, the bride turned out to be a distant relative of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Amit and his friends had to go underground. “It was scary as hell, as we got a lot of threats. Honestly, I won't recommend this to a lot of people,” he signs off.
