While most people struggle to learn a second language in their lifetime, Asin Thottumkal has learned seven! And presently she is self-tutoring herself in the eighth language — Spanish.

Says a friend of the actress, “Asin has a flair for languages and picks them up easily. She trains herself through do-it-yourself books. The actress is fluent in seven languages which include Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, French, English and a smattering of Italian.” Her interest in languages has helped her to work in different film industries like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

A friend of the actress reveals the secret behind her new passion, “Asin loves travelling and has visited various European cities on her own. Recently she went to Spain and fell in love with the language. Also, a lesser-known fact is that her rakhi brother is Spanish, which seems to have doubled her efforts at learning the language. Since her return, she has been picking up Spanish from books. She’s a fast learner and usually takes about three months to speak the language fluently.” What next? Russian?
