Sushant Singh Rajput, who is currently shooting in Kolkata for the film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, has now started learning Bangla. A source says that production house Yash Raj Films has hired a tutor to teach him the language.
“Apart from learning Bangla, Sushant is also keenly observing and studying Bengali culture and its people.
He has been eating certain local dishes in order to understand Bengalis better. He wants to play his part — that of a young Bengali man — convincingly,” says a source.
Sushant’s spokesperson confirmed the news. “Yes, we did rope in a tutor to help him learn Bangla,” said the spokesperson. The film, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, is centred around Bangla writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's famous fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi and is set in pre-Independence era Kolkata.
