Singer and actress of Dhobi Ghat fame, Monica Dogra, will mess up Kalki Koechlin’s married life with Gulshan Devaiah in UK-based director Ahmed Roy’s short film, Severing Ties, which focuses on moral issues. The couple’s life is disrupted one evening by a third person in the film which was shot over three days in South Mumbai’s plush Pedder Road area.

Roy organised several workshops with the lead cast so they could get acquainted with another. “I’ve known Kalki for the longest time, since our theatre days. I share a comfortable equation with her and that helped us play a husband-wife caught in a complex scenario,” said Gulshan.

Monica however didn’t know Kalki until this film. “But, we hit it off well even before the shoot started. We share a similar taste in music and fashion and even our personalities are quite similar. In this film I play a home-wrecker of sorts, I’m sure Kalki will reverse the role on me in a different film,” Monica laughed.
