Sushant Singh Rajput has been incommunicado for a few months now. Ever since he started prepping up for Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, the actor is not even reachable on his cell phone. Having travelled back in time to the 40s where the film is set, he has snapped all connections with today's world. But only a select few know this because Sushant has been posting pictures and there are regular updates by him on a social networking site. In fact, even yesterday, on his 28th birthday, he was happily responding to all the wishes.

But it turns out that it's not Sushant at all, but someone posing as him. The imposter has been active on the @officialrajput handle while the real star is filming in Kolkata.

Sushant actually spent his birthday shooting in Kolkata with only fiancee Ankita Lokhande for company, unaware of the flood of wishes.

The activity hasn't been confined to just posts. The imposter has also been using the direct message option to reach out to Sushant's circle and asking for advances and financial contributions taking advantage of the fact that the star is missing in action. It was only when some of these people, suspecting something amiss, approached the talent management team handling his work to acertian if it was really Sushant, that they learnt about the game.

The actor's spokesperson confirmed the news, "Sushant is not on any social networking site but someone is impersonating him and asking for money. We have reached out to the social networking site in question and asked them to get the rogue id removed."

The spokesperson added that a case has been registered with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.
