Anurag Kashyap had filed a case against the Censor Board’s objection
to his refusal to add the anti- smoking disclaimer in his upcoming
film, Ugly. The director had a hearing but the whole process seems to
have consumed a lot of time with the verdict yet to come out and he is
running out of patience.” The director says, “I have been against the
censor board flashing the disclaimer of “no smoking” before every film,
for which I have filed a petition asking them to remove the same. I am
still waiting to receive the certificate which grants my appeal”. He
further adds “smoking isn’t illegal; I feel as a filmmaker it is very
insulting to advertise something which is not even illegal. We are
waiting for the hearing and I am hoping to receive a verdict which is in
our favour. I strongly believe in our constitution and our democracy,
hence I am waiting for a positive judgment. I will fight till the end
and I will be very happy if other film- makers support me” The director
has pushed the release of his film Ugly, to wait till the verdict comes
out.
