Wonder Woman 1984 collects 2.25 cr on day 1 + previews; Solo Brathuke So Better opens well

Wonder Woman Movie Review: Gal Gadot Is The Hero We Need
Box Office India Trade Network

WONDER WOMAN 1984 saw decent business again on its first full day as it collected 1.50 crore nett taking its total to 2.25 crore nett. This 1.50 crore nett is the highest opening day till date for any film in India post the Coronavirus pandemic. The film made good ground in Tamil Nadu and Nizam Andhra as it opened outside the bigger multiplexes.

The night curfews in Maharashtra and Karnataka meant Mumbai city, Pune and Bangalore which are best for English films are not at their normal ratios. Delhi city is above Mumbai city which is not normally the case for an English film.

The film could show some growth on Saturday as it is a holiday but its unlikely to that huge holiday growth that was the norm before the pandemic.

The collections of WONDER WOMAN 1984 are as follows.
Previews - 75,00,000
Thursday - 1,50,00,000
TOTAL - 2,25,00,000

SOLO BRATHUKE SO BETTER, a Telugu film, has opened very well in Nizam/Andhra considering the conditions. The film was reporting Housefull shows (under reduced capacity) in some morning shows in cinemas of Hyderabad. The film from Zee Studios has been sold at discounted prices across the circuit due to the pandemic but its a very encouraging start and remains to be seen how it goes from here on.

Wonder Woman 1984 collects 75 lakhs in paid previews

Wonder Woman 1984 Review: Sequel Floats On One Wing - The Returning Gal Gadot
Box Office India Trade Network

WONDER WOMAN 1984 did pretty good business in paid previews on Wednesday as it collected 75 lakhs nett. This is probably the best result since the reopening of cinemas in October. TENET recorded day one numbers of 1.15 crore nett a few weeks back but that was a full day

WONDER WOMAN 1984 had shows post 5 pm only and even here Maharashtra has night curfew which means screenings have to finish by 10 pm leading to limited screenings in Maharashtra. The screenings today will go up four fold which should mean a strong improvement in collections in Mumbai and Pune.

The collections should improve all over as today is the first full day of the film and if a film does almost 1 crore nett in paid previews then it is not much to expect a 2 crore nett plus first full day which would be a good result but in these times you cant be sure that 2 crore nett plus will happen. Many cinemas (multiplexes and singles) still remain shut across the country especially in the Hindi belts.
