I would mute the TV and comment all the time-Boman Irani

Boman Irani reveals that he had been getting ready for his role in the Ranveer Singh-starrer sports-drama for years
Ankita Chaurasia (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 1, 2020)
Boman Irani might have spent most of his time inside the commentator’s box while shooting for Kabir Khan’s ’83, but he didn’t have to be on the field to know what went into recreating one of India’s most glorious triumphs. “Kabir, Ranveer (Singh, who plays Kapil Dev in the film) and the rest of the team have put their best foot forward to bring alive the 1983 Cricket World Cup on screen. Shooting at the Lord’s cricket ground was really emotional,” he admits, adding that June 25, 1983, is one of the most memorable evenings of his youth.
Team India, spearheaded by Kapil, started out as underdogs but went on to beat favourites West Indies to lift the much-coveted trophy. “That win put us on the world map and, as a nation, we started believing that anything is possible if you put your heart into it. That day shaped the lives of many youngsters of the time,” asserts the veteran actor.
How had he celebrated India’s victory? Boman’s voice fills with nostalgia as he relays how TV viewing was a community activity back then. “After we lifted the Cup, two-three families decided to go for a drive. Mumbai had come to a standstill. People were dancing on the streets. When the cricketers returned, there was a motorcade from the airport to the Wankhede Stadium. In the ’80s, India played Test matches all year and limited-over cricket was restricted to the World Cups. We were not good at this format of the game so, it was a huge deal!”
As someone who used to go watch Ranji matches by himself even as a child, it is a surprise that Boman didn’t make a career in sports. “My way of being connected to cricket was as a sports photographer. It was amazing being that close to the action!” he exclaims. Given his baritone, didn’t he think of becoming a commentator for real? “As a child, I would mute the TV and comment all the time. That practice came in handy for ’83,” he says sheepishly.
Lifting the Wankhede ban on Shah Rukh Khan was a sensible decision-Rajeev Shukla

Rajeev Shukla on MCA allowing Khan into Wankhede again

When the Mumbai Cricket Association decided to revoke
the ban on Shah Rukh Khan from entering Wankhede Stadium, on Sunday,
many saw the move as long-overdue.
SRK’s close friend, Congress MP and Indian Premier League (IPL) chair Rajeev Shukla reacted cautiously. “Lifting the ban was a sensible decision. In any case, Shah Rukh won’t be attending cricket matches at Wankhede as his team Kolkata Knight Riders plays its matches in Kolkata. We need to function as a healthy cricket-loving nation and not get into confrontational situations,” he said
Another friend said SRK reacted with a smile at the news, “He was not rattled when they stopped him from entering the stadium. He isn’t likely to be doing cartwheels of joy now that the ban has been lifted. Shah Rukh rationalises and justifies a situation only from his own moral perspective.”
Secret meeting in LA
With December 18 mere months away, any news about the big players — Shah Rukh Khan-Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale and Eros International-Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani clash on that date — is a big deal. And now, a secret meeting held in the US last month between Shah Rukh Khan and Eros’ Kishore Lulla is expected to ease the tension between the two films.
And here’s why. Our source informs, “Kishore Lulla flew down to Los Angeles for a meeting with Shah Rukh Khan to discuss if Eros Entertainment could come on board for Dilwale, produced by SRK’s Red Chillies and Rohit Shetty. Lulla discussed a potential collaboration on SRK’s film. Eros is co-producer of SLB’s Bajirao Mastani and a collaboration with Shah Rukh over Dilwale could sort out the issue of the release date clash between the two films.”
While details of what was discussed at the meeting are not clear, it is believed that Khan talked sharp business with Lulla. Says the source, “Shah Rukh has, by far, the sharpest business sense among all the Bollywood superstars. There is no way he would allow Eros to come into Dilwale at this late stage until the deal is to his advantage.”
A source from Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies confirmed the meeting between Khan and Lulla, but refused to divulge any more details.
MCA ends Wankhede Stadium ban on Shah Rukh Khan

THE TIMES OF INDIA (August 3, 2015)
The Mumbai Cricket
Association (MCA) chose 'Friendship Day'
to end its three year-old feud
with Bollywood actor and IPL team owner Shah Rukh Khan, reports
Gaurav Gupta. In a managing committee meeting on Sunday, the MCA ended
the five-year ban on Khan entering Wankhede Stadium. “It has been three
years since we banned him. Shah Rukh is now most welcome to come and
watch matches at the Wankhede,“ said MCA joint secretary P V Shetty.
Khan was banned in May 2012 following his scuffle and altercation with a security guard and MCA officials after an IPL game in which KKR beat Mumbai Indians. TOI had reported in its August 2 edition that the MCA was in a mood to take this step, which would be a big relief for not just the charismatic Knight Riders co owner and his millions of fans, but also the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla.
There was no reaction from Shah Rukh, but KKR CEO Venky Mysore did express his delight at the news “Pleased to note MCA has lifted the ban on @iamsrk. @KKRiders will be happy to see him cheering in person next time we play at Wankhede!“ Mysore tweeted on Sunday. “It is a good, wise step by the MCA and I thank them for taking it. There was no point in continuing this ban when both the parties had reconciled, and the matter was a closed chapter since it happened three years ago. Shah Rukh is a franchise owner and brings value to the IPL,“ Shukla told TOI.
Recently, Khan had reason to rejoice when his team Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel clinched the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title. The lifting of the ban would be the icing on the cake for the 49-year-old superstar. Prior to its managing committee meeting on Sunday a certain section in the MCA had wanted the ban to be lifted much earlier since SRK has already served a substantial period `respectfully' without trying to enter the stadium at any stage.
MCA had offered to temporarily lift the ban on Shah Rukh last year, in what was a failed attempt at bringing back the IPL final from Bengaluru. That offer, however, was just for the final.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shoots in Fort for Jazbaa amidst 5000 people, unbearable heat

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was
spotted shooting for Sanjay Gupta's upcoming thriller,
Jazbaa, by Mirror lensman Raju Shelar at the Asiatic Society
Library in Fort on Sunday. In the sequence, the actress is seen
hurriedly getting out of a car to make a frantic phone call. Adding to
the emotions was the growing heat and the gathered swarm of onlookers.
A crowd of over 5000 stargazers converged to watch Aishwarya in action. And the melee, paired with the blazing sun, made filming an ordeal. “We've been shooting 12 hours at a stretch all week long but it was only indoors. This was the first scene in her comeback film that was shot at a public place and the humidity was unbearable,“ revealed a source from the location.
Aishwarya's day had begun at 7:30 am with a sequence shot under the Marine Drive flyover. They finally
wrapped up at the library around 4:00 pm. The director posted a picture of his footprint embossed into the road: “The tar road melts under our feet....Imagine the heat we are shooting in!“ Initially, the crew was to shoot with Ash on Marine Drive on April 13. But due to ongoing Indian Premier League, the Mumbai Police advised them against an outdoor shoot at a time when cricket frenzy was at its peak. “We beefed up security and the area was locked down but still the crowds went crazy. I can understand today why the cops denied us permission when Mumbai Indians took on the Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhade Stadium,“ adds the source.
The director and his leading lady will unveil the poster of the film at the Cannes Film Festival when Aishwarya makes an annual appearance on the French Riviera. “We're on a one month break now,“ exults the source.

Why was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan not allowed in Wankhede?

Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa that marks Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s comeback, is set to release on October 9. While the Jazbaa team is keen to wrap up the shooting schedule, they seem to be experiencing hindrance in shooting. So what’s stopping Sanjay Gupta and his team? Apparently, the film’s team had got the permission to shoot at the Wankhede stadium on April 12. But it looks like the authorities revoked the permission as the Wankhede ground was hosting the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. A miffed Sanjay Gupta tweeted, “Shoot cancelled because of IPL at Wankhede. We were to shoot around there. Permissions granted then revoked.” Incidentally, it was on the same ground that Shah Rukh Khan had an ugly tiff with the security personnel, after which he was banned from the stadium premises. Looks like the authorities decided to back out from hosting the Jazbaa team from shooting, stating security reasons. This decision, we hear, has not gone down well with the filmmaker.
Ness Wadia abused me thrice and manhandled me-Preity Zinta

Divyesh Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 25, 2014)
On Tuesday evening, Preity Zinta told the police that she was abused thrice and manhandled once by Ness Wadia on May 30. The supplementary statement was recorded at the BCCI office in the Wankhede Stadium.
She also went to the Garware Pavilion with the Marine Drive police team and pointed out the two spots where the alleged incident had taken place and also showed them the spot on the ground where she claims that she was abused for the third time. A spot panchnama was done by the police team.
According to a police officer, Preity was seated under the air conditioned box in the Garware Pavilion initially which was where Ness Wadia, according to her, started abusing a team official over the seating arrangement. Preity apparently asked Wadia to be quiet as their team, Kings X1 Punjab, was playing well. "She claimed he then started abusing her and even pulled her hand," said the officer.
He added, "Preity then left the seat and moved to one in front near the railing where Wadia again abused her. At this point, an American national identified as Gene Goodenough, who was Preity's guest, stood up and appealed for silence and later threatened to hit Wadia. After this Wadia left the spot.
"After the match ended, when Preity went to the ground to congratulate her team members, Wadia abused her for the third time."
Preity has named 14 others present when the incident took place, which includes the American national and a son of a legendary cricketer. She has also referred to some friends of Wadia, who were seated below the box where she was abused and manhandled, but has told the police that she doesn't know their names.
The actress has revealed that Kings XI Punjab had a total of 85 seats of which 35 seats in the airconditioned box were given to Wadia, while the rest were shared among the other members of the team. She stated that Wadia's mother, Maureen, never came to the open box in Garware where the actress was initially abused and manhandled.
A team from the anti-extortion cell also met Preity in the premises.
According to a source, when Preity's lawyer asked her about the threat issued by Ravi Pujari to Nusli Wadia's secretaries, she denied knowing the gangster and said she only knows cricketers Ravi Shastri and Cheteshwar Pujara.
